Sheep or a Wolf?

by Editor George Duke

So many churches are destroyed everyday by the wolves in the church. They prey on the new convert. They come in many disguises such as Saint , Assistant Pastor, or even that neighboring Pastor nearby.  It takes many years to build up a Apostolic Assembly but just a few minutes to tear it apart. Pastors daily have to deal with problems in the church and the wolves look for the chance to hop in and cause havoc. One of the greatest problems we have in our Apostolic church is the ” Holier than thou attitude.” Yes we need standards but standards are not a salvation issue. Sin is! My suggestion to you if you are having problems over this issue is leave it alone. Some of the standards we have do not make sense when viewed in bible history. So do not tear down a church to promote your ideology.

It’s amazing how many of those that you win to the Lord leave you because of the wolf!   Church destroyers (wolves) are sometimes the bully in the assembly.  Jesus called them wolves. Do all churches have them?  Acts 20:29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. The answer is YES  Churches and people are  destroyed by these wolves that display themselves as sheep. They constantly find ways to gain your confidence and trust. I have seen them destroy people in churches that I have Pastored over the years. It really hurts a Pastor to see those that he prayed with and nurtured into the church follow them to their own destruction. That’s the reason I refer to them as bullies. Pastors need to be aware of them and today I list some of the tell tale signs.

“I love you pastor, but I want you fired.”

  1. They are among the first in the church to tell you how much they love you and they normally portray a holier than thou lifestyle.

And they will continue to love you as long as you do everything exactly the way they want it done every single day.

  1. They have strong personalities and are able to draw others to themselves.

They tend to be boisterous. They speak up frequently in meetings. They can be loud. They like to dominate conversations.

  1. They are highly opinionated especially in regards to standards

And if you ever disagree with them, you become their next target.

  1. They are terrible listeners.

They want you to listen to them; they don’t want to listen to you.

  1. They build unhealthy alliances.

The bully in one church built an alliance with two weak members. The three of them spoke in secret  about the pastor.

  1. They murmur and gossip.

Most of their words are negative. They are the anti-Barnabas.

  1. They do most of their toxic work in darkness.

They let other people become the fall persons for their nefarious deeds. They meet with them behind closed doors and then slither away.

  1. They have been to several churches.

Bullies tend to move around. They do their damage at one church and then leave. They are sometimes asked to leave.

Matthew 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
