I-MY QUESTION TODAY
A-Will your standard save you or cause you to be lost?
B-There are 3 categories of Major sins in the bible
1-Lust of the flesh 2-Lust of the Eye 3-Pride of life
C-Most of us can understand the first 2
D-But it is Pride that many Christians do not understand
II-WHAT IS PRIDE
A-Luke 18:11 best describes one with Pride
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank you, that I am not as other men are, extortionists, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
B-Proverbs 16:18 best describes the final results of Pride
“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall
C-Pride is what causes many to be the Pharisees of today
D-Many of our so called standards are not sin
1-They might be our downfall rather than the sin we think are in others
III-JESUS WARNED US ABOUT JUDGING
A-Matthew 7:1-3 7 Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
B-Story of the Prodigal son Luke 15:11-32
C-The key found in this story is forgiveness
D-The good son failed to understand the forgiveness of the Father
1-Have you misunderstood his forgiveness
2-No matter what you have done or where you have been Jesus Christ can save you
IV-THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS
A-Jesus Christ came to look for you and me
Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
B-Why do I use the word YOU
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
C-All of those on the day of Pentecost were given the power to be saved
D-Men and Brethren what shall we do
1-Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
2-Today Let us all lay down those filthy rags Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
